Career Core Program: Administrative Skills Program
This nine-week program is designed to give students marketable skills in overall office procedures, communication, computer applications and financial basics to enable them to improve their present position or to gain a position employment in an office environment.
“As the reliance on technology continues to expand in offices, the role of the office professional continues to evolve. Office automation and organizational restructuring have led administrative assistants/executive assistants to assume responsibilities once reserved for management and professional staff.” (Dept of Labor) Duties may expand from simple clerical, communications, coordinating projects, to research, preparing statistical reports and simple and intermediate bookkeeping.
The student is required to complete the Core Requirements. Additionally, students will pursue areas of interest through the Electives. Program cost is inclusive of text and in-house materials.
Prerequisites: 30 wpm; 70% or greater achievement on “Assessment Exam”
Cost: $2,500 All prices include all textbooks and course materials.
Class Time: 5 days per week; Lab courses are 4 hours per day; Computer classes are 2-day or 3-half day sessions.

20-hours, Instructor-Guided/Lab Course
Students will apply learned skills to work through a simulation “real life” business application. Students will complete letters, mail merges, commission schedules, development inter-office communications and much more.

4-hours, Instructor Led
Students will learn generally accepted formats for business communications. Students will apply good grammar techniques to business communications and gain a solid understand of formatting.
(letter, memo, faxes, e-mail and report formatting).
Introduction to Accounting Level 1
6-hours, Instructor Led
The student will demonstrate a working knowledge of accounting methods, chart of accounts, record-keeping, Payroll and interpreting accounting software data (Balance Sheets & Income Statements) for the purpose of operating accounting software (QuickBooks Pro at more advanced level. This course will prepare them for QuickBooks Pro Level 2 and 3. This class is a prerequisite of QuickBooks L 2 & 3.
