Business and Communications Training
Administrative
Support
Students will receive
training in theory and practical application of administrative
support functions, including the following: scheduling, making
appointments, and receiving visitors; processing incoming and
outgoing mail; organizing meetings and conferences, preparing
agendas and notices; making travel arrangements and preparing
itineraries; and storing and ordering supplies. [3 hours]
Business
Communications
The basics of written
business communications including letter styles and format; principles
and techniques of writing various types of business letters, memos,
and reports; vocabulary development and word usage; punctuation,
capitalization, number expression, abbreviation style; and proofreading
skills. This is a two-day, instructor-led course with two hours
of additional exercises. [6 hours]
Grammar
Review (Independent Study)
This self-paced course
is designed to help students write clearly and correctly by improving
their understanding of grammar and punctuation. The course covers
the elements of grammar and punctuation that many find troublesome
including: how to write complete, correct sentences; how to use
verbs, pronouns, and articles correctly; when and how to use commas
and other punctuation marks; and how to distinguish between commonly
confused words. [20 hours]
Job
Search Workshop
Students will learn
to identify and evaluate available positions, develop career goals,
prepare a professional resume and cover letter, network to find
job leads, develop effective interview strategies, and follow
up to get results. [12 hours]
Keyboarding/Typing
(Independent Study)
Students
will be introduced to the basic functions of the keyboard, proper
hand placement, and techniques for touch typing and developing
speed and accuracy on computers. [15 hours]
